Improve Indoor Air Quality with Expert Duct Cleaning in Elko
Breathe Cleaner Air And Reduce Allergies
Indoor air quality can be up to 70% worse than outdoor air quality. Ducts can become a death trap for dust, dirt, mold, pet hair, and other allergens that circulate through your home’s ventilation system. To have optimal air quality, your air ducts need regular and thorough cleaning. To maintain clean air quality and the efficient operation of your RTU’s (Roof Top Units), cleanings should be done every 2 to 4 years or as needed. Factors that influence the frequency of cleanings would include having pets, allergies, asthma, recent construction/remodeling, or outdoor pollutants (such as smoke from nearby fires).
Ruby Mountain HVAC Refrigeration uses a professional top of the line agitation cleaning method, which includes cleaning each vent, return, and all the ductwork with a spinning nylon brush hoses that dislodge debris and simultaneously vacuum it up with a high-powered HEPA vacuum. After which we go back into each vent with a botanical sanitizer, which eliminated odors associated with mold, mildew, and bacterial growth. Lastly each register is vacuumed and wiped clean by hand.
Air Duct Cleaning Helps:
- Improve indoor air quality
- Eliminate harmful bacteria
- Harmful particles, mildew, pollen
- Reduce the potential for mold growth
- Extend HVAC equipment life
- Remove unpleasant odors
- Prevents fires
- Save money on energy costs

Why Should I Get My Air Ducts Cleaned?
Over time and even after the construction of a new home, dust, pollen, bacteria, spores, mold, and even debris left from construction crews can accumulate within your air ducts.
These foreign objects can negatively affect your HVAC system by impeding air flow, adding strain to your system and ultimately resulting in increased utility costs.
Uncleaned air ducts also allow dust and other particles to continually circulate in the air while accumulating on surfaces throughout your home.
If you find that you need to dust frequently, dirty air ducts might be the culprit. Most importantly, a poorly maintained air system can easily introduce dust and other harmful particles into the same indoor air you and your loved ones are breathing.
“The average 6 room house collects over 40lbs. of dust each year.”
– Discovery Magazine
“1 out of every 5 people who suffer from allergies do so because of a direct relationship to the dust, fungi, and bacteria in the air duct systems ”
– Total Health and Better Health Magazine
“50% of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated by polluted indoor air.”
– American College of Allergies
“Contaminated central air handling systems are breeding grounds for mold, mildew, and other sources of biological contaminants.”
– Environmental Protection Agency

Dryer Vent Cleaning
According to the National Fire Protection Association, every year firefighters across the country respond to 13,820 home fires caused by clothes dryers. About 27% of these fires are caused by an accumulation of lint, which can constrict the ductwork that expels hot air outside.
Ruby Mountain HVAC and Refrigeration, provides professional dryer vent cleaning for residential and business properties in the Elko, Nevada area. When your dryer is functioning poorly, it is likely due to a clogged or debris-filled dryer vent line. Lint, debris, and other common sources of dryer vent clogs can not only affect the efficiency of your dryer, but they can also be a serious fire hazard.
Our dryer vent cleaning services remove the fire hazards from your dryer vent line and offer an array of other benefits related to your dryer’s performance. By restoring proper airflow throughout your dryer vent line, you can reduce drying time, increase energy efficiency, and decrease wear on clothing and the dryer itself.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Due to Elko’s swings between dry, dusty summers and cold winters, ducts generally benefit from a cleaning every 2-4 years. If you have pets, allergies, recent construction, or nearby wildfire smoke, more frequent cleaning might be needed.
Yes. Dirt, dust, and debris buildup can block airflow, forcing your HVAC or RTUs to work harder. Proper cleaning improves airflow, which helps your system run more efficiently and can lower your heating/cooling costs.
A thorough cleaning should include:
-
removal of vents/registers,
-
agitation (brushing or spinning tools) to dislodge debris,
-
HEPA vacuuming under negative pressure,
-
sanitizing to address mold, mildew, or odor-causing bacteria,
-
and finally cleaning and wiping each register by hand for cleanliness and finishing touches.
Definitely. Even when ducts look fairly clean, tiny particles like pollen, mold spores, bacteria, and residual allergens can circulate through the air. For people with asthma, allergies, or sensitivity to pollutants, cleaning ducts helps reduce these irritants and can improve indoor air quality noticeably.

Rafe came when he said he would and got right to work. He quickly figured out the problem. He was very professional. He offered to order the parts we need and another appointment to fix or A/C. I couldn't ask for more than this. I was very impressed with Ruby Mountains business process.Posted on Google![]()

Fast, friendly, and professional. We had them come check out our AC unit outside, it took Thomas about 15 minutes to diagnose the issue, and that is with elderly neighbors stopping to chat with him while he was near his work truck. So far everything is good, if I don’t come back and add to this review it’s safe to assume that we had no follow up issues.Posted on Google![]()

Our home air conditioning system was intermittently working. I called Ruby Mountain HVAC and was scheduled for next day service even though it is the busy season. The receptionist was kind and very helpful. In the morning the next day I received a call from Rafe informing me that he was on his way. When he pulled in the driveway I received a text that he was there. Rafe was very knowledgeable about my A/C system. He went right to work checking the wiring, the hookups at the furnace and at the condenser unit outside. He determined that we had a program in the thermostat that was overriding and causing the a/c to shutdown. With my permission he removed the unwanted programming and set the thermostat for manual operation. I am very happy with his service and knowledge that he demonstrated so well. I will definitely recommend this company to others.Posted on Google![]()
